The ghosts of eight monks wearing white robes are seen walking across the golf course. They are clean shaven and their faces are wearing expressions of agony and extreme pain. It is believed that they are Dominican Friars that were tortured to death by rival Franciscans in the early 1500's.

Berkeley Sather Tower
A student jumped off this bell tower in the 1960's. Four years later a student said that she was followed by a ghost as she crossed the lawn below the tower. In the late 1960's a photographer took a picture of a phantom hand reaching out of the same grassy area.

The chandeliers can be heard as the ghost cleans them. Two chandeliers fell from the ceiling for no reason. A maid quit after seeding a stack of pillowcases rise up and fly around the room.

The actor John Hodiak haunts this house. Several houseguests saw him hovering outside a second floor window and walking ten feet off the ground in the backyard. Hal Gefsky has even gotten phone calls from the ghost but he could only say a faint hello.

Charlene's Country Treasures Near the Salmon Creek Bridge on Bodega Rd
Things started getting strange when Charlene got a 19th century doll made from the death mask of a real child. The hair, eyebrows, and lashes of the child were removed and pasted onto the doll. Customers started seeing a tall man with a beard leaning over the crib with the doll. The ghost was identified as Captain McCuen who was the original owner who had a brain damaged child that had been confined to a crib till her death.
Apalatea House Bodfish Located in Kern County
Ghosts showed up after the house was moved in the late 1960's. An old rocking chair rocked by itself, and windows opened by themselves. Voices and laughter and the clinking of glasses have been heard coming from the empty house.

The town was named after the Scottish bride of John Garder. Rebecca died in the hotel in 1871. Her cause of death is uncertain since she either fell down the back stairs or froze to death or maybe both. Her cries are heard coming from the second floor. Rebecca has also been seen in an old calico dress in the hallways.

The ghost of Sister Irenita has been seen. She died in 1931 and haunted the school until a special mass was held to put her to rest. Vandals dug up her coffin and the Monsignor reported that she was perfectly preserved although she had been dead for over five years and a tree root had broken into her grave.

The ghost of a lady in a blue dress soacked in blood haunts this place. She has been seen standing near the piano, outside the ladies room, or dancing alone in empty rooms. A stool tipped over and did a somersault. Her bloody ghost was seen standing in the middle of Highway 1. Her ghost has been seen once or twice a year for the past fifty years. Some believe the ghost is a young woman that was stabbed to death by a jealous lover on the beach in front of the restaurant.

A ghost that people call Rescue Man roams the hills helping lost and stranded hikers to safety. He is believed to be Indian Jim who was a guide and gold prospector that died in the 1940's.

One is dressed in 1960's and the other in 1930's clothes. The ghost of a little boy that fell overboard by the pool has been seen in the passageway. The old first class salon is haunted by the ghost of a beautiful lady in a flowing white dress. Balls of light and a black haired man in a 1930's suit have been seen in the first class suite area. The storage room is haunted by the sounds of children playing.

This place has been the scene of ghostly parties where someone is murdered. Footsteps and screaming voices that warn them to run for their lives are heard by residents.
Griffith Park in Los Angeles
This park has a curse on it placed by a blind girl. In 1884 during a storm a ghostly figure cursed the property and all who lived there. The property her uncle willed to a close friend leaving her without a home. Soon after the probate judge in the case died and the lawyer that administered the property died in a drunken brawl. The new owners ended up penniless. Griffith gave the land to the city to get rid of it. A few years later he went insane and got sent to San Quentin for trying to kill his wife.

A red haired woman is seen stabbing a man with a mustache in the living room and then goes to the bathroom to wash off the blood and is humming.
Red Castle Inn 109 Prospect St, Nevada City
Built in 1860 this Gothic mansion is home to a lady in gray. This ghost is so real that guests believe her to be alive until she goes through a door. The lady is thought to have been the governess for the John Williams family who were the original owners.
Holmes Book Company 274 14th St, Oakland
This used bookstore was built in 1894 and has been haunted by a male ghost. He's been seen and his footsteps are heard. People have also seen books fly off the shelves. The owner's feel it's a protective presence.
Wheeler Office Building 1904 Franklin St, Oakland
Strange things like heavy cabinets fall over and pictures for no reason fall. The phones would ring and no one would be there and once hung up they would ring again. The events stopped when a young man that worked there as a typist left. It was believed that he was unconsciously evoking psychokinetic events.

A stone vault at the crossroads is said the hold the remains of a vampire. A black phantom dog guards the sarcophagus. A woman on horseback has been seen riding through the park and a headless biker riding a Harley-Davidson. A bride has been seen hitchhiking.

A ghost appears every Friday night between ten and midnight. She is wearing a long white nightgown and is thought to be the restless spirit of a Mennonite woman that committed suicide after her kids died in a diptheria epidemic in the late 1800's. She puts invisible flowers on their graves.
California State University 6000 J St., Sacramento
The theater is haunted by a young man that died in an accident while the building was being built. He fell from the second floor and was impaled on the steel girders. His presence is felt near the elevator between the scene shop and costume shop, on the catwalks, and in the light booth.
The Record 710 K St, Sacramento
This used record store is haunted by the ghost of a very old woman that is dressed in a black victorian dress with a white ruffled collar. In 1933 she showed herself to a customer and told him to get out of the store cause he was making too much noise. The owners call her Gertrued. She pops up in the basement sales area which used to be a street level.
El Fandango Restaurant 2734 Calhoun St, San Diego
A woman in white appears in the main dining room. She materializes in the main dining room. She materializes in a dark corner and doesn't like light. She sits at a corner table by the front window when the shade is drawn. It is believed that the Lady in White is one of the Machado women whose house the restaurant was built on.
Horton Grand Hotel
One of the rooms is haunted by the ghost of Rodger Whittacker who was killed in 1843 by the father of his fiancee. He haunts the area by room 309. He was believed to have been dumped in a swamp that used to be on the property.
Alcatraz in San Fransico
Miwok Indians thought evil spirits inhabited the island. The sounds of clanging, screams, and crying can be heard in Cell Block B and the dungeon area by Cell Block A. In Cell Block D four cells are said to be haunted. Strange voices have been heard coming from cells 11, 12, and 13. Cell 14-D is ice cold. The sounds of banjos playing have been heard coming from the deserted shower room.
Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransico
Over a thousand people have committed suicide jumping from this bridge. A two-masted clipper ship named the Tennessee has been seen in dense fog by the bridge where it sank a century ago. It is only seen for less than a minute and no one is on the deck.
Montandon House Private Residence on Lombard St.
Pat was a popular TV personality locally in the 1960's when her home went to hell. The house was sold. Locked windows opened and small fires started. Two close friends that she lived with committed suicide. Pat's secretary Mary died in a fire in the house while Pat was out of town. An autopsy showed that Mary was dead before the fire started. Before she moved out Pat had an exorcism performed and the disturbances ended.
San Fransico Art Institute 800 Chestnut St
It was built over an old cemetery. The monastic tower which is right next to the cemetery site has been considered haunted for fifty plus years. Footsteps are heard climbing the stairs to the observation platform and the lights turn off and on again for no reason and doors open and close by themselves.
Winchester House 525 South Winchester Blvd, San Jose
Sarah started building the house in 1884 and never stopped. She was living in Connecticut when her husband and child died within months of each other. She went to a medium and he contacted her husband who told her to build a house for the spirits of those that were killed by a Winchester riffle. Over the next thirty-eight years she spent six million dollars on the house. It has 700 rooms, 950 doors, 10,000 windows, a room for seances which is called the Blue Room where she got instructions from the spirit world. Every night at midnight, one and two in the morning a large bell in the bell tower rang out to summon spirits. She based construction on the number thirteen. Sarah also slept in different rooms each night. When the earthquake struck in 1906 the upper stories of her mansion were destroyed. 160 rooms remained and she boarded up the room that she'd slept in that night. She treated the spirits like royalty. She set out five-course meals on thirteen sold gold plates and cutlery where she and twelve ghosts were the guests. Sarah died in September 1922 and gave the entire estate to her neice with the instructions that the ghosts continue to be welcome and taken care of. Several have been seen moving balls of light and a gray haired woman floating throught the walls. People have heard organ music, whispering voices, and slamming noises.

The ghost of a woman wearing a white shawl near an ocean bluff on the campus is seen. Several have seen her glide over the lawn six inches off the ground. When she reaches the edge of the cliff she disappears in a blue flash of light.
Aliso Canyon in Santa Paula
This is home to the Billiwack Monster. It was first sighted at the abandoned Billiwack Dairy which closed when the owner mysteriously disappeared in 1943. People saw a tall muscular creature covered in gray hair with long claws on its fingertips. An apelike creature that stands upright with ramlike horns that grew out of its head.
Toys R US in Sunnyvale
It was built in 1970 and has been haunted ever since. Strange things happen like faucets turning on after being turned off, invisible hands tapping shoulders or stroking hair, scattered rollerskates and books, and voices. A Johnny Johnson was contacted. He worked on a ranch that was in the same spot. He was mentally impaired and came to be called Crazy Johnny. In 1884 he got hit in the leg with an ax while chopping wood and bled to death by a well on the property. The records showed that a well did exist in the spot indicated by Johnny's ghost.
Santa Clara House on Santa Clar St.
The ghost of a young woman hung herself in the attic of this house. She has been seen in the upstairs ladies restroom and looking out a round window in the front of the house. In the late nineteenth century a young Italian woman Rosa got pregnant while having an aldulterous affair with a salesman from San Francisco. She peers from the window waitinf for her lover's return.
Zander Building 400 block of Main St, Ventura
The ghost of an unknown man haunts the building. Employees have seen a tall male figure several times. He is usually wearing an unbuttoned gray suit.
